Rob Laidlaw
Rob Laidlaw has been the Director of Zoocheck since its inception in 1984, and has also worked for the World Society for the Protection of Animals, the Toronto Humane Society and other animal protection organizations. His focus is on campaigns associated with the keeping of wildlife in captivity, including zoos and aquariums, sanctuaries and the exotic pet trade.
He has been involved in a broad range of initiatives including legislative campaigns, public awareness programs, litigations and animal rescue. He also participates in initiatives in other countries, particularly in Asia.
Rob is a chartered biologist, the author of seven children’s books about animal issues, and the 2014 recipient of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies Frederic A. McGrand Award for outstanding contribution to animal welfare in Canada.
