Samantha Goddard

Samantha Goddard, Captivity Campaigns Officer of the Born Free Foundation, has been campaigning against the captivity of wild animals for more than seven years.

The issue about which Samantha feels most strongly is cetacean, specifically orca, captivity. She has given numerous talks, interviews and presentations on the topic, using film, video and other media to raise awareness on the subject.

Samantha is also focused on building relationships with other experts, projects and charities to bring an end to the use of cetaceans in display facilities. Beyond her work with the Born Free Foundation, she is a founding member of the Dolphinaria-Free Europe coalition, which is working to phase out cetacean captivity in Europe, and is a member of the China Cetacean Alliance, which is helping to change attitudes among the general public in China and beyond.

Samantha is a strong advocate for sanctuary projects and is excited to be a part of their development, implementation and success.
