Curt Lahti
Captain Curt Lahti performed the phase one site research for the whale sanctuary, analyzing more than 100 potential sites in British Columbia, Washington State and Nova Scotia.
He has spent his life on and around the sea on tugboats, sailboats and private yachts, as well as with shipbuilding companies. He maintains a keen interest in oceanography and has more than 20 years’ experience leading small, medium and large corporations.
In November 2023, Curt embarked on a ten-year circumnavigation on his sailboat, Raaja. He is currently in Mexico and heading on to ports and bays in El Salvador, Costa Rica and Ecuador before jumping off to French Polynesia and the multitude of islands beyond.
Originally from the Northwest, he is currently founder and CEO of a business consulting firm in San Diego, California. He has led quality teams at Intel Corporation, including Intel’s global Y2K Project, where his team won accolades from business leaders around the world.
Curt (generally known as “Skip”) holds a USCG 200T Masters license with a sailing endorsement. He was educated at Oregon State, Portland State, and Loyola Marymount Universities in Engineering Physics and Structural Engineering.
