Pierre Gallego

Pierre Gallego is a veterinarian specializing in marine mammal medicine. He has been working in the field of marine biology for 13 years, and is President of Odyssea, a marine mammal research and conservation organization in Luxembourg. He has been organizing marine mammal research internships, mainly in Tarifa in the south of Spain, since 2004.

Dr. Gallego represents Luxembourg as scientific adviser at the International Whaling Commission, and works with numerous international NGOs to promote conservation and to fight cetacean captivity.

He has worked in several stranding networks and is currently carrying out a Ph.D. on humpback whales, focusing on pollutants and stable isotopes. The ocean is his passion, and water is his element!
